Number One in the App Store? Gift!

When we started working on an App for Gift Grub, the popular satire sketch on Today FM’s Ian Dempsey Show, we had high hopes that it might make at least the top 5 in the App Store. So it was a pleasant surprise to wake up on Monday to find out it had hit the Number One spot, having only been released on the previous Friday!

Our clients EMI, Ian and Mario are really chuffed their first digital venture has gone so well.

The brief was to use the familiar characters created by the Gift Grub team in a new and engaging way. So we came up with the Decider – a fun and simple app where you simply ‘ask’ your phone a question or to resolve a dispute. You then ‘shake’ the phone and let Gift Grub decide. Once you shake a random response from one of the characters – Roy, José, Brian, Keith, Bertie or Joan = will decide whether you were right or wrong! The App, called the Gift Grub Decider, uses the Accelerometer technology native to the iPhone. This means that the phone detects when it is being shook to provide an action.
